The rich heritage of the Algarve cities

The Algarve is home to beautiful towns and villages such as Carvoeiro, Albufeira, Faro, Tavira, Lagos, Silves with pedestrianised city centres covered with ''calçadas'' (white and black stone paving). Casa dos Pombinhos is located in the heart of the Algarve, ideal for reaching any point from east to west in less than an hour by car.

The Algarve is best known for its fine sandy beaches bordered by steep ochre cliffs. In the east, sandy beaches can be reached by “water taxi” or by train over the Rio Formosa, a protected natural park. In the center, where Casa dos Pombinhos is located, the most visited, the most majestic, the most spectacular beaches surrounded by vertical cliffs. Some can only be reached by boat or canoe. To the west, the wild, wind-swept beaches are a surfer's delight. The beach in the Algarve is part of everyday life. You can swim all year round, with water temperatures generally never dipping below 18 degrees.
